Although these lists do not give a full list of all persons living in Fluvanna County, they do provide invaluable information on some of the families living in Fluvanna in the early years of Fluvanna, as well as giving information about slave ownership and wealth.  This is a great resource for genealogists looking for information of family members who may have lived in Fluvanna at this time.</div>

In the summer months, the mines had to hire additional workers to replace the farmers in their workforce.</div>

                                    <div class="element-text">This image is of miners at the Arminus Mines posing together. A clergyman is present in the middle and it is evident how many children grew up around and worked in the mines. Frequently, the miners weren&rsquo;t steady long-term employees. They worked for a season or two and then found work elsewhere. Some workers, however, depended on the mines for their livelihoods and lived on the property, worked there for many years, and raised their families at the mines. </div>

                                    <div class="element-text">This image is of the manager&#039;s family and their help standing in front of their housing at the Arminius Mines. In 1904, the mines were run by seven managers overseeing a workforce of three hundred men. It is said that the managers would often invite the workers into their larger homes at night to sing songs and read, fostering a sense of community among the miners and providing a break from the hard work at the mines.</div>
